34052 34046 Lord Dowding + 47760 On The Cathedrals Express 11th March 2017

On 11th March 2017 Steam Dreams (STDR) ran "The Cathedrals Express" from Southend East to Bath and Bristol Temple Meads via Southall where steam locomotive 34046 "Braunton" masquerading as 34052 "Lord Dowding" ( being a replacement for the booked 46100 which is unavailable at present) took over from the diesel locomotive The steam locomotive. "Lord Dowding" then hauled the train running as 1Z24 down the mainline to Reading, Newbury ,Hawkeridge Jn and Bath to it's destination at Bristol Temple Meads. Later in the day the train returned to Southend again hauled by 34052 (34046) as far as Southall, where 1Z26 would become diesel hauled once again. The return journey took the more direct Bath, Swindon and Reading route and I was fortunate enough to capture the train as she called to pick up at Bath Spa station. It was just about still daylight so a few other photographers were still present. 34052 is I believe out and about next weekend too so there are still opportunities to catch her on film before 34052 reverts back to her real guise as 34046.
