60009 on Royal Duchy 9th June 2013

On the 9th June 2013 The RYTC ran The Royal Duchy from Bristol to Par in Cornwall and return with the beautifully preserved A4 LNER Class steam locomotive "Union of South Africa" 60009 in charge. The train seen here as she makes a spectacular appearance round the coastline at Dawlish and passes through the delightful station serving the seaside resort and sweeps past and then disappearing into the tunnel under the hill. The second shot is of the return leg as the train climbs up the steep incline at Dainton and then enters the famous Dainton Tunnel at the summit shortly before Newton Abbott. The sun being low in the sky giving off the pinkish tint in the smoke after such a lovely warm and sunny day's weather.
