Tom Hanks blasted for ‘disgusting’ portrayal of a racist Donald Trump supporter

Social media users have slammed Hollywood actor Tom Hanks following his portrayal of a racist Donald Trump supporter.

Hanks appeared on the 50th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live (SNL) and was seen wearing a MAGA hat and using a rural accent in a skit.

In the skit, Hanks’ character appeared in a parody game show called Black Jeopardy.

During the skit, after Hanks’ character got an answer right, he refused to shake the hand of the black host played by Kenan Thompson.

The skit and Hanks’ portrayal of a Trump supporter was blasted by social media users, with one user labelling it “disgusting”.

“Tom Hanks just came out on SNL in a MAGA hat for a bit where he acted like he didn’t want to shake a black man’s hand,” wrote one user.

“This show wonders why their ratings are in the gutter. Trump won the popular vote. This tired trope that MAGA is racist is disgusting. SNL is an unfunny show for snobbish liberal elites. The current Republican Party is a big tent coalition compromised of many former Democrats. Good riddance, SNL.”
