How we are raised as children shapes how we think as adults.

And with kids, it's all psychology, a system of potential rewards or punishment, praise or embarrassment, feelings of pride or feelings of guilt.

I think it is common to praise children in the form of clapping with "wows" and "great jobs" to positively reinforce desirable behaviors, but what about when we fail or come up short?

In the West, it seems you'll more often hear "good try," "you'll get them the next time," or "it's the effort at counts," while in China, you'll almost universally hear a comparison to someone else who has performed better.

"Look at Jenny, why is she able to get a higher test score?"

So think about these two contrasts and how you yourself were raised to understand the origins of relative truths and circular reasoning.
