Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Naruto, Pokemon, Dragonball Z – the list of anime out there is staggeringly long, with more and more content being produced every single day. Anime dubbing, or the process of superimposing English voice acting on top of a foreign cartoon, is incredibly technical and challenging. Dubbing isn’t limited to anime – many Netflix live action series are being dubbed and brought over from other countries like Italy and Spain – but today we’re going to focus on the basics of Anime dubbing. Learning how to be a voice actor, and how to get into voice acting, can be hard enough already. When you throw anime dubbing in the mix, things can get kind of crazy. So today we’re going to talk about auditioning for anime roles, where to find them, and look very quickly at the technical aspects of dubbing.
