Seal Mass Die Off Namibia 2020

Over the last 6 weeks or so we have been inundated with dead, prematurely born seal fetuses at Pelican Point, Namibia. You may have noticed some small dead seals on videos lately, and we just wanted to provide some clarity on the whole situation.
This incident has received massive media attention - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08wqywn?fbclid=IwAR1tePJmfWNBTNRPmVPI0esNhldwNDrCcmdVbVCJ4Kc6D7yGAZZ9vh5jkIA
We have been working around the clock with the Namibian Dolphin Project and some leading scientists from around the world.
Hundreds of samples have been taken and been sent to labs in South Africa to test for the presence of toxins or illness. The most likely cause of this event is starvation, but we cannot rule out toxins or disease, and therefore the tests are being done.
The good news is that in the last 2 weeks there has been a massive reduction in the amount of new dead seals, and on top of that we are seeing more and more full-term pups being born, looking strong with a real chance of survival.
We will keep you updated on the findings from the lab tests.
