DIY Magneto Costume X-men First Class Version
Need a DIY Magneto costume? In this tutorial we'll be making a fairly simple one based on the one Michael Fassbender wore in X-men First Class. This tutorial is just for the costume part itself, but a Fassbender helmet tutorial will follow in a couple weeks, along with a McKellen Magneto tutorial a few weeks after that (so multiple Magnetos are covered 😉 )
Got a little help on this one from @brettlionheart as the musical Magneto in the ending skit and thumbnail photos. If you want to hear the rest of Brett's song that he plays in the ending skit, you can check it out on Youtube: https://youtu.be/lPtnf0_NAos
Or Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/47AfyFeFXjsIsd2HFveYLp?si=nt752-2AQ4exOmEleKg5Bg
The shirts and pants for this costume I found for a few bucks each in the local second hand shop, and the rest of the supplies can be found in most sewing shops. And if you're wondering, the Fassbender helmet was made to fit my brother's head, and didn't fit Brett that well, which is why he is wearing the McKellen helmet with the Fassbender costume in this video (I photoshopped the Fassbender helmet on his head for the thumbnail 😉)
MATERIALS USED:
2 Black shirts (1 turtleneck, one performance wear)
Half yard of stretchy yellow fabric
5 feet of thick parachute strapping and 2 large parachute buckles (https://amzn.to/2ZN3RcJ)
Chrome silver paint (https://amzn.to/2IadGGY)
4 overall buckles (https://amzn.to/3bwG3Mp)
1 long separating zipper
2 large buttons
Glossy black paint (https://amzn.to/2BFGYJQ)
Black pants
2 short zippers (more if your pants don't already have zippers)
Glue that will bond metal (Power-tac: https://amzn.to/2ixOyvy)
