Eerie Flooded Winzes in the Abandoned Bluejay Mine

The Bluejay Mine was a copper mine discovered in the late 1800's and worked until 1908 or 1909. The mine didn't produce much ore, but a huge amount of money was invested into the mine. The workings consist of a several thousand foot long crosscut tunnel, several winzes, and a few short drifts.

Today, the old winzes are completely flooded with a deep blue colored water. About 1,500 into the mine, the air begins to become oxygen deficient. If you explore this mine, please turn around at the second winze!

The inclined winze shown first was explored by divers a few years ago, their video of the dive can be found here: https://frogkickdiving.com/mine-exploration-project#59884081-cf7a-4765-80ba-1bba5c00060a
