It was the largest female only prison in Britain.

Opened in 1852 housing both men and women inmates.

In 1902 it was converted into an all female institution.

Early 1900 there were over 300 sufferattes who were imprisoned for their militant campaign for the right to vote.

Holloway housed some ...well known women like. Ruth Ellis, Myra Hundley and of course Rose west.

Between 1902-1955 there were 5 women who were excuted at Holloway this including Ruth Ellis and she was the last women to be hanged In Britain
