Reading is a power plant for generating electricity, it's located in North Tel Aviv, next to the Yarkon river. The station is named after the the Marquis of Reading, Lord Rufus Daniel Isaacs, who was chairman of the IEC board in the 1920s and 1930s

The first Tel Aviv power station was built in 1923 in the Ramat Hasharon neighborhood of Tel Aviv, and the supply was 0.3 megawatts. Following the rapid development of Tel Aviv in the 1930s, there was a need to establish another station in the Tel Aviv area, as close as possible to Tel Aviv. A desolate area north of the Yarkon was chosen for the construction of the station.

The power plant was completed in 1938. The station produced 24 megawatts, about a third of the IEC's total production capacity.
Production at the station was done using fuel oil, in addition to electricity production, in the station area there were also illegal weapons production workshops for the defense organization "HAGANA", the station was attacked in World War II, by the Italian Air Force, and in the War of Independence by the Egyptian Air Force,

In 1948 a 12-megawatt production unit was added.
The station provided half the national amount of electricity.

In 2003, "Atarim", the municipal company for the development of Tel Aviv's beaches, began planning a public marina, which will serve as a recreation and water sports center.

In 2006, the Reading station switched to using natural gas as a replacement for fuel oil.

Today, the station produces only about 5% of Israel's electricity output.
