Wonderful Funfairs in The Netherlands a century ago in 1925 in color [AI enhanced & colorized]

In this video we take you a century back in time to participate in the Funfairs in the Netherlands in 1925. We start our trip at the former Zoo in the Hague where the annual funfairs used to be held in spring, called the "Voorjaarsfeesten".

After a period of being banned, funfairs became in fashion again just before 1900. After WWII the The Hague Zoo was at its end and finally closed in 1963.

Elderly Dutch viewers will recognize many attractions which were still in existance in the 1950s and 1960s, among other at the Funfair on the Lange and Korte Voorhout in The Hague.

Seeing the famous Caterpillar attraction brought back fond memories of my childhood when I visited the funfair with my farther. Sitting inside the caterpillar that went around a circular track at high speed the green cover would be pulled over the heads of its passengers.

Please enjoy these glimpses of various funfairs in The Hague, Groningen and Hillegom with its many tradional attactions like carousels, shooting galleries, spring pulling, impossible moving steps, haunted houses, wonder people like the fatman and two midgets, bumper cars, train rides and The Whip.

Kids also loved the funfairs for its sweet treats like poffertjes, cotton candy and waffles.

Thanks for watching!
