Our INCOMPLETE Journey to MUNDHUM Trail, Ep II , Rakha, Sibdu, Ghyangkharka & Bahanepokhari
#mundhumtrail #khotang
This is our second series on our attempt to trek the beautiful Mundhum Trail which gets foiled by excess air pollution due to the raging wildfires all across Nepal. If you haven’t watched episode one yet, we highly recommend you watch it first.
After leaving Jalapa for Rakha, we stop at Teknath Dai’s house and meet with Gyan dai and our team from Rakha, Ramesh Dai, Narayan Dai, Megh Bahadur Dai and Tek Bahadur Dai. We reached Sibdu from Rakha that night and started our trek the other day. Heavy rain, hailstorm and snowfall greets us on the way to Ghyangkharka, along with hopes that the skies might clear up the next day. But, to our dismay, the skies are still hazy the next day. Given the uncertainty of the weather and polluted skies, we have to make a decision, we cancel the rest of the trip. This has never happened in any of our journeys before.
Our discouraged spirits get a lift when we spend a few moments in Bahanepokhari. We return with a strong resolve, we’ll be back on this trail again, when things get better, because this is a beautiful trail that everyone needs to see before it gets destroyed by the shortsighted development plans in the region.
We are very thankful to the Detroit to Nepal Foundation (D2N) for their support.
