Hey guys, Uncle Ben Eller here again! So i've been using the Fishman Fluence Modern ceramic pickup set in my 1992 Ibanez RG550 here for a year now, and i am still blown away. I have been a lifelong hater of active pickups, until now! I don't know how Fishman has done it, but they've somehow built a powered pickup that can get every bit as brutal and aggressive as your step dad's actives, but somehow maintain the sensitivity and musicality of a passive. Totally amazing. Plus, every pickup has 2 unique voices you can access (with a mini toggle or a push/pull pot), so you can get the best of what you'd expect out of an active set with Voice 1, and what you love about passive tones with Voice 2.
So, as a testament to how fantastic these pickups are, i thought it would be fun to make a cover video of a ton of everyone's favorite thrash riffs from the Big 4: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer! Those classic records (Master of Puppets, Rust in Peace, Raining Blood, Among the Living, etc) were recorded with a mix of passives and actives, so i've recorded the Metallica and Slayer tunes with voice 1(active), and the Megadeth and Anthrax tunes with voice 2 (passive).
Guitars are double tracked. I used my mighty Kemper Profiler for all the tones, making no adjustments song-to-song. Everything was recorded using an EVH 5150 III profile made by Zach Householder of Whitechapel. Such killer tone, i couldn't love my Kemper more!
Thank you for watching, please subscribe to my channel and share this video via Facebook, Twitter, smoke signals, telepathy, whatever. Cheers!
