PMJAY's Impact on Cancer Care- Timely Treatment and Challenges in Radiotherapy Access -Lancet Report

A recent study published in The Lancet Regional Health - Southeast Asia highlights significant improvements in the timely initiation of cancer treatment in India, largely attributed to the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). The research indicates a 36% increase in the likelihood of starting cancer treatment within 30 days of diagnosis over the past six years. Notably, PMJAY beneficiaries experienced a 90% improvement in timely treatment initiation, compared to a 33% improvement among those not enrolled in the scheme.
