MSUM Trinidad Abroad!

The MSUM "Trinidad Abroad" World Music course is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a world culture with your fellow students and friends! Through this unique course (offered every other January during the Holiday break), students travel for 10 days to Trinidad and Tobago with Dr. Kenyon Williams, Professor of Percussion and World Music, while completing the majority of the course requirements for LASC course MUS 316 "World Music" (all other course requirements are completed 100% online during the spring semester). Open to participants of all backgrounds and all majors, this class allows students to experience unique hands-on cultural opportunities such as: learning to play the Trinidadian steel pans with a native master teacher, exploring historical and cultural museums and sites, visiting nature preserves and beaches, snorkeling in the warm waters of the Caribbean, exploring the delicious traditional foods of the island, and attending musical performances and cultural events all while attending daily lectures about a variety of world music traditions.
