As someone who's practically a plank-owner in the 'Halo' franchise (was a pre-release tester - what is now commonly labeled as a beta tester... and if I ever found my 1.0 release CD, I have the profile emblem to show it), it always drives me into a near-apoplectic rage when people dismiss 'Halo' as a dumb shooter for eSport DudeBros 😡

Aside from 'Star Trek' and 'Star Wars' (maybe Babylon 5, as well), 'Halo' is the richest, most vibrant, and filled-out science fiction franchise out there - and while, yes, it requires you to read all the 100% canonical novels and comics... watch all the various movies... and completely ignore the TV series, you can get the general shape of the 'Halo' universe from the 10 games published so far
