Наша гвардия - Our Guards (English Lyrics)

"Our Guards" (Наша гвардия), also known as "The Guards Song" (гвардия песня) is a Soviet military song written by Alexander Alexandrov in 1944 in celebration of recent successes made by the Red Army at Stalingrad, Kursk, in the Baltics, and in Ukraine against the fascist invader. The song recounts the heroic feats of the specially designated, for heroism and distinguished service in battle, Guards Divisions, whose fearlessness in battle turned the tides of the war against the fascists. After Stalin's death in 1953 and the accession of Nikita Khrushchev to power in the Soviet Union, any mention of the battle of Stalingrad or the great strategic genius and brilliant military leader, Stalin, was removed from the song as part of the revisionists de-Stalinization process.
