Skoolie Refrigerator ~ Norcold Dual-power Install

We just installed the Norcold Dual-powered RV Refrigerator in our Skoolie! As with almost everything in a Skoolie Build, there is no right or wrong ~ it's all about personal preference. We chose to spend a little more on an RV fridge instead of a regular household fridge for several reasons. Although a household refrigerator can be a lot less expensive, it just isn't efficient to run a 120v appliance on a 12v solar system. If we were planning to be plugged in (shore-lined) this would be fine, but since we will be boondocking the vast majority of the time, relying fully on our solar power, we needed to know our fridge would keep running through the night... all the time! We did opt for the dual-power version so if we DO decide to spend some time shorelined, we'll have that convenience as well. Oh, and one more bonus ~ the doors stay latched, so we'll never have a food avalanche go spewing across the floor as we go around a corner! We REALLY appreciate those who have built skoolies and shared their valuable wisdom with us on youtube!

About Us:

Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1996 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty.
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!

Mike & Kerry
