1820S ANTIQUE TOWN! | VINTAGE SHOPPING | RESELLER DESTINATION

ANTIQUE & VINTAGE MALLS & SHOPS FILL OLD FLORIDA TOWN

————————————————————

Florida’s first American town (1821) is Micanopy, now a thriving antique center! Join me as we walk the tree-canopied streets of this sweet vintage and antique destination in search of special collectibles and reseller bargains.

Past the freeway-fronting Antique City Mall (we’ll hit that place later in this video!) is the sleepy, jungle-like Old South village of downtown Micanopy. Four blocks of antique and specialty shops have blossomed here over the past 40+ years, making it a sweet and special destination for collectors!

We start at the Outpost, where a friendly fellow and his cat keep watch over a good collection of vintage vinyl, Florida Highwaymen art, Seminole dolls and true antique furniture and smalls. Surprisingly, the upstairs of this old tin-clad cracker building is filled with a mid-century modern gallery, where a fantastic Danish credenza and a shockingly affordable chrome lamp greet us! Despite the high-end retail presentation, we do find things worth buying for resale, a good lesson to antique and vintage traders who fear shopping in retail antique locations.

Mellow views of small town life and markers to luminaries of yesteryear lure us across the street, where we window shop a row of antique and art galleries on our way to Delectable Collectibles, where a 40 year accumulation of wonderful art pottery, antique porcelain and over a thousand cameos await our gaze. A trip through a wild vintage garden takes us full circle—but there’s still more to see!

So it’s back towards the freeway, where Antique City rises like a phoenix from the ashes by I-75. This emporium fills a large metal building with antique booths, an auction house and vintage fun ranging from advertising and art glass to comic characters and wrestling figures! This is where the bargains are, as we find deals on Murano glass and a crazy lucite steer head in a 75% off case. A trip to Micanopy never disappoints, it’s such a pleasure to get to bring you to this gracious and historic place.

Here’s some more of what we find beneath the moss-laden trees in this antique town:
