There is a lot to digest here, so I will list my top 5 favorite fireplaces and list pros and cons to all of them.

First off let me tell you that the biggest thing that is going to dictate what kind of gas insert that you need is the size. Remember these inserts are going into an existing fireplace. So you can only buy one that is the right size for your opening. What is nice though is most manufactures make the same features in different sizes. So we start with the size and then from there you can choose brand and features, etc.

#5 on the list Regency Gas inserts

PROS: The pros are, is they are great heaters, and I love the fronts, super clean lines, and the fronts really make the fireplace feel larger then it is.

Cons: They are getting a little long In the tooth and are due for an update, which is coming.

#4 on the list is Valor Gas Inserts

PROS: The most flexibility with install options. For example Valor doesnt need power to operate, so you dont have to worry about electricity at all! Also on some of the smaller units you can terminate vertically if your chimney is not in tact.

CONS: Not too many actually. If I had to say one it would be that some of their fronts are not quite as clean as some of the other manufactures.
#3 Napoleon Oakville gas inserts

PROS: Napoleon is number one on my list for most fireplace for your money. They come loaded with features, such as blowers, bluetooth controls, dual burners, remote thermostat, etc. And the best part is they are super affordable. They aren’t the cheapest on the market, but not the most expensive either. They are right in the middle!

CONS: Not many here either. I would say I dont like that you can get the larger size in the modern burner.

#2- Mendota FV Gas inserts-

PROS: These are honestly my personal favorite ones, and the reason is, they are monster heaters, the most heavy duty, the highest quality, most fit and finish options, and on and on…

CONS: They are SOOO Expensive. Its the reason they are not number 1 on my list, they just price themselves out for a lot of customers.

#1- Quadra Fire Fire Brick Gas Inserts-

PROS: This one checks all the boxes for me, high end, efficient, attractive, and reasonably priced. My Favorite thing that puts this over the top though is the anti-reflective glass. Its really a game changer. The fireplace looks like an open concept and doesnt look sealed off at all!

CONS: If I am splitting hairs, they could have more frame and finish options
