3 Professors Share Lessons From Their Mentor, David Schmidtz
Get advice on how to be a successful academic from Prof. David Schmidtz of the University of Arizona, who has been an influential mentor to countless graduate students and other scholars. This video features interviews with philosophy professors John Tomasi of Brown University, Jason Brennan of Georgetown University, and Christopher Freiman of the College of William & Mary, as they recall some of Schmidtz's most valuable advice and memorable mantras, and explain how his mentorship and leadership by example have made them more successful in their own careers. We also interview Dave himself, and he shares insights about how to best prepare students to become successful professors and academic scholars. Whether you are a PhD student yourself, or whether you are a professor, thesis/dissertation advisor, or general mentor to students, Prof. Schmidtz's advice can help you be more successful and impactful in your career. David Schmidtz is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Arizona, and Director of the Freedom Center at the University of Arizona.
