After years as an abuse counselor…

I spent years counseling men who were sent to me by the courts to attend a 52 week domestic violence program. The program consisted of a lot of very practical wisdom, a whole lot of self-confrontation, and education on issues related to domestic violence and unhealthy behaviors in relationships. I learned a lot during this time. After spending many hours with many men I found several common factors that they seemed to share, which contributed to the damage they did to others and themselves. The lack of "consequential thinking" was one of those factors.

It's interesting to me how much the Bible actually talks about consequential thinking and encourages us to take a very long term approach to evaluating and planning our actions.

This issue of consequential thinking applies to not only business, family, and physical health, but also to your spiritual health. Don't put off obeying God. Don't harbor sins in your life for years, the long term results will be so painful. Get right with God today. Trust in Jesus and repent of sin so that you can be forgiven, washed clean, and so you can enjoy the wonderful future of those who follow Christ. Following Jesus has short term costs but it only has benefits in the long term.
