"SUM FORMULA"

The SUM function in Excel and similar spreadsheet applications adds numbers, cell references, or ranges together, such as =SUM(A1:A10). It is a fundamental tool for totaling data, capable of handling up to 255 individual arguments, ranges, or cell references. It automatically updates totals when referenced cells change. 

Key Details for the SUM Function:

Syntax: =SUM(number1[number2]...).

Purpose: Quickly calculates the total of selected cells, rows, columns, or specific numbers.

Examples:

=SUM(A1:A5): Adds all cells from A1 through A5.

=SUM(A1, B3, C5): Adds specific individual cells.

=SUM(A1:A5, C1:C5): Adds multiple, non-adjacent ranges.

Keyboard Shortcut: Press Alt + = to automatically insert the SUM function for adjacent cells.

Alternative Uses: In SQLSUM() calculates the total of a numeric column while ignoring NULL values. 

Common Use Cases:

Totaling Columns/Rows: SUM(B2:B10).

Adding Specific Cells: SUM(A1, A3, A5).

3D Sum (Across Sheets): SUM(Sheet1:Sheet3!A1) to add cell A1to A6
