There is a common misconception that Modern Money Theory equals money printing. In other words, government is going to print money and that's modern money theory. People who advocate MMT advocate printing money. Well, this is NOT true.

Before this topic ever got popular I've discovered it through the blog of Dr. Bill Mitchell who is a macroeconomist.

So what exactly is MMT? Modern Money Theory is a macroeconomic theory that describes how monetary systems work in cases where the government has the exclusive power to produce money.
