5 Things I Hate About Living in the United States / Dominican Expat Life!

You asked for it...we did it! Chris and I talk about the top 5 things he hates (dislikes) about living in the United States, specifically in Scottsdale, Arizona. I think this may be helpful for some of you Dominicans who have moved to the US as well, or have a family member ready to join them here. I think many would agree with Chris list, even though he lists pretty minor things, they are quite different from Dominican culture/way of doing things. Please watch till the end! We explain that Chris loves living here in Arizona, and while he misses the Dominican Republic, his likes far outweigh his dislikes of living here! There are always pros and cons of where you live, and I think his are pretty tame lol. I hope no one is offended, as he definitely doesn't mean any of this in a hurtful or judgmental way. American culture is much different from Dominican culture. If you are in the 2020 k-1 visa process right now too, this may be insightful for you, as living in a new country always brings some challenges. I made a similar video about 5 things I hate about living in the Dominican Republic, while I was in Santiago de los Caballeros, and as assumed, there are always challenges when moving from American or Dominican culture to a new one. This is kind of a comparison of the dominican republic vs. united states, and life as an expat in both.
I would love to hear what 5 things were the hardest for you in your transition to the United States from the Dominican Republic, or any other country you emigrated from!

If this is the first video of mine you're watching: Hi! My name is Mills and I moved from New York to the Dominican Republic alone in July 2017! I lived in Jarabacoa for a year to teach abroad, and then spent another year in Santiago de los Caballeros. I started this channel to document my experiences living abroad and as an American, female expat overseas, and would love for you to subscribe to follow my journey! My now husband, Christopher and I have just moved to Arizona after completing our K-1 visa journey, and are looking forward to this new adventure, and sharing it with you along the way!
