Making bulk soft plastic baits and Resin injection moulds

Producing lots of baits often takes a bit of time when you only have a single cavity mould. So for this video i wanted to try some new materials to me, to make a multi cavity injection moulds for soft plastic baits.

I have used aluminium and polyurethane resin before to make fishing lures but not as a mould material and despite requiring some care and attention in the making stage the resulting moulds are really great.

Materials

Polymer clay; there are two main brands of this Fimo and sculpey both easy to get hold of from art shops or online.

the resin I used was Easyflo 60 from ebay it can be bought small amounts normally

aluminium powder was again bought from eBay but is standard filler for lots of resins

Some companies like Makelure.com produce ready mixed resins with Aluminium powder, like VAC 50

Soft plastic liquid can be bought from a number suppliers
