Byron Allen | A United America | Equity Talks

Byron Allen is a comedy prodigy, a successful entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and a Hollywood media mogul. A teenage star who got his start writing jokes with David Letterman and Jay Leno, he has gone on to build his own media company, Entertainment Studios, which has a massive global portfolio of HD cable TV channels.

Because of his success, Allen has felt a responsibility to give back, raising millions for the likes of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and Feeding America, a food-bank network. Allen has also gotten involved in politics, not only raising money for candidates, but speaking out against injustice. In 2020, in the aftermath of the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor, he published an op-ed, calling for reforms that would create an America where everyone has access to economic opportunity, medical care, and human rights.

In this episode of Equity Talks, Corey duBrowa, Google’s Vice President of Global Communications and Public Affairs, speaks to Allen about justice, financial inclusion, and fulfilling the economic dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Equity Talks series is a global forum offering an in-depth study of justice through forthright discussion. By amplifying some of the most important voices of our time, our goal is to encourage introspection, conversation, and personal growth.
