Blue Silk-Ground Embroidery with Longevity Peaches and Double Cranes

The embroidery is worked on a blue silk ground using various stitching techniques, including plain stitch, overlapping stitch, seed stitch, scale carving stitch, and pine-needle stitch, to depict cranes, longevity peaches, and floral motifs.
In the composition, two cranes each stand on one leg atop rocky outcrops, surrounded by abundant blooming flowers. A peach tree laden with fruit enters the scene from the upper right, with lush and flourishing branches and leaves. The longevity peaches, cranes, lingzhi (immortality fungus), and flowers are combined together, conveying auspicious wishes for wealth and prosperity filling the home, as well as longevity and extended years. It also carries the meaning of birthday congratulations.
This is a typical Qing dynasty court or aristocratic embroidery piece created for birthday celebrations.
