Kraft Sports and Entertainment and the New England Patriots filed a lawsuit against Foxborough over obligations tied to Gillette Stadium’s entertainment license. The complaint accuses Foxborough officials of unlawfully extracting funds by rewriting the license terms to add $1 million in fees, on top of charges. The plaintiffs say Select Board previously could charge only a $100 renewal fee, yet 2026 renewal included higher costs and levies, without resident input or due process for local residents. Foxborough says the license requires the town to be reimbursed for public-safety and municipal services for stadium events. The case seeks a court order voiding portions of the renewal beyond the $100 fee and other relief; the town maintains its position and notes discussions. Kraft proposed increased revenue-sharing to fund services; World Cup security costs were resolved when Kraft covered $7.8 million. It cites wastewater and parking fees as examples of these excessive charges.
