Weighted calisthenics is a great way to get strong and make body weight pull ups fly. This set is after doing some 1RM testing at 50kg, as you can see the first few reps felt easier as a result.

AI train outside at parks 95% of the time, so training with weights is something I don’t get to do as often as I would like. Last time was back in October at @calistud.io.

I’ve found training skills and explosive movements such as high pulls and muscle ups transfers well back to weight lifting, whereas the opposite is not the case. I.e. having a strong lat pull down won’t necessarily give you a good muscle up, but having a good muscle up will give you a strong lat pull down.

Street lifting is becoming bigger which is essentially weighted calisthenics, focusing on pull ups and dips. Definitely worth incorporating into your sessions whether you train weights or calisthenics, it’s a great middle ground that has the best of both worlds.

Give it a go and treat it like strength training, i.e lower rep range 2-6 and let me know how your body weight pull ups feel after ✈️
