EDF Hybrid Jet - Mk I
I used an EDF electric propulsion system from a model plane and modified it with an Arduino to control based upon potentiometer input.
I have a thrust controller which is 3d printed to drive the throttle then. Gas injection is still manual.
This is more or less to prove the principle that one can use an electric motor to drive a low pressure zone in which gas can be injected to create additional thrust.
Obviously the thrust distribution is uneven due to the single coil injection system, plus the length of the low pressure zone and the pressure drop across which has not been optimized yet.
Next steps would be to introduce a stepper motor driven gas valve and digital ignition system while increasing injector count and low pressure area. Fun idea but it is a lot of work to set up.
