WHAT ALPHA WISHES HE KNEW ABOUT MONEY WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER
1. You don't need to buy a home -- Alpha's first home purchase was one of his worst decisions. He wasn't ready because owning a home is expensive, and it may actually depreciate.

2. It's critical to maintain a high credit score -- Alpha thought 'whatever' about his credit score when he was younger, but it actually indicates your willingness or ability to repay a debt or loan. With a bad credit score, the interest rate will be higher (which is a waste of money). Reciprocally, a high credit score will save you lots of money.

3. Debt is the devil -- don't make someone else rich by paying interest. Keep your debt zero or as low as possible so you can invest for yourself.

4a. Invest your extra money -- the amount of money Alpha has lost personally because he didn't start investing when he was younger makes him sick. Put a little away each week, month, year. The earlier you start, the better it is. Alpha didn't understand investing, but it's now not complicated and complex with Wealthfront. You can get started with $500, and you can set-up an account with a small management fee. You can also customize your portfolio (aka your risk tolerance).

4b. It's okay to ask for a deal or better option (money off, discount code) -- whether a car or clothing, ask about a better deal. You can also use the internet to search for discount codes.

5. If you can't afford it, don't buy it -- don't waste money on what you don't use or need. It's instant gratification, but delay the gratification. Don't waste money on sh!t you don't use. Also don't use your credit card; if you can't afford it, don't buy it.

6. It's okay to splurge -- creature comforts are okay if you love them as long as you're responsible. Alpha loves Starbucks, and it makes him happy. Be realistic. Cut your expenses, but you have to live.

7. You have to live below your means (always) -- everyone logically knows this, but you have to know where you are with expenses and developing a budget. Where you live and what you drive are the two areas you can reduce the easiest and save the most.
