Gray Whales Come Up Right Next to the Highway!

In this video, I trace the path of a group a gray whales along the Malibu coast from Point Dume to near Point Mugu and find a location where they come within a 50 yards of the the highway. However, not all whales follow this path, and this made me curious. Let me know in the comments what you think makes these whales come so close and others take another route.
