Franciszek Lessel - Piano Trio Op.5
Zuzanna Małgorzata Budzyńska (VL) / Szymon Ogryzek (pno) / Jadwiga Roguska (CL)
00:00 Allegro Brillante
08:04 Adagio
12:51 Allegro di molto
Franciszek Lessel (1780-1838) was a Polish Composer. His father was a composer and pianist of Czech Origin. In 1799 Franciszek Lessel went to study with Joseph Haydn and continued to do so until Haydn's death.
After the death of his master in 1809, Lessel returned to Poland. He gave concerts (he played the piano and glass harmonica, an instrument that was fashionable in those years), gave music lessons and composed his own pieces. His concerts took place in Vienna, Krakow, Warsaw, and also in Puławy, where his father, Wincenty, organized an orchestra at the Czartoryski court.
The personal life of Franciszek Lessel turned out unsuccessfully - he had a reciprocated love for Miss Cecylia Beydale, the illegitimate daughter of Princess Izabela Czartoryska. However, this marriage turned out to be impossible due to the differences in birth and the poor financial situation of the composer. According to the legend, Lessel wrote Variations on a Polish folk song in A minor for Cecylia (op.15 no.2). This piece is very effective and highly emotional - a series of dramatic and turbulent variations was preceded by a sentimental main theme, which returns at the end as a kind of epilogue. There is no copyright infringement intended. If you wish your recording to be removed, it can be done, please just leave me an email, which can be found at the channel's about section.
