How to make a Layered Pop-up Happy New Year Card for 2021: V-fold Mechanism

Here's an easy tutorial to make a layered Pop-Up Card for the new year. Surprise a loved one by making this card for them, and watch them smile when they open it!

This pop-up card uses the V-fold mechanism, and layers of florals to create a garden-like effect. All you need is coloured card paper and some glue. If you try out this card, do share with us on instagram, tagging @skygoodiesco. We can't wait to see what you make!

Detailed step-by-step instructions are given below:
This tutorial uses the V-fold mechanism.

This tutorial uses materials that you can find at home or can get easily.

You will need:
Thick card paper for the base of the card
Colorful scrapbooking paper / photographs / drawings / magazines
Scissors
Glue

Fold the card paper into half.

Cut strips of the same or different card paper, at least 1.5 inches wide.

Fold the strips into a V-shape with tabs.

Stick the V-shaped pieces to the card as shown. If you want to make lots of layers in your card, stick many V-shaped pieces in different sizes, in the upper half of the card.

Draw the numbers 2021 from coloured card paper and cut them out. Draw or cut out flowers and leaves. We have used scrapbooking paper to cut out some flowers.

Stick the '2021' to one of the V-shapes. Cover the rest of the layers with as many flowers and leaves as you like, to create a garden-like effect.

Draw and cut out a banner shape with 'Have a beautiful' lettered in. Stick it to the layer at the back, higher than the '2021'.

Instead of flowers, you can make fireworks, animals, people, a city, a bunch of gifts or any other pictures.

You can decorate the front of the card as well. Add a message on the front, if you like.
