How to make a Flip-flop Double-sided Note Book - Easy Book Binding Tutorial

For all our dear friends and subscribers, who love to bind books or play with paper, here's a simple detailed tutorial showing how to bind your own double-sided flip-flop notebook! We have made a little gratitude journal with this double sided book binding technique. You can use the books you make for your notes, doodles or dreams, or make some as hand-made gifts for loved ones. Follow the instructions below to make your own flip-flop journals.

YOU WILL NEED:
- 80-120 gsm plain paper for the inside pages
- Coloured or patterned card paper for the cover
- A piece of string approximately 30 cm long
- Craft wire or copper wire
- Stickers or scrap to decorate with
- Scissors
- Craft glue or glue stick

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. This tutorial shows how to make a double-sided flip-flop note book. We have made a gratitude journal, with 32 pages on each side, so it can be used as a journal for one month.

2. Start by measuring and cutting 16 sheets of 100 gsm paper, in the size
15 by 10 cm.

3. Count 8 Sheets of paper
for each side.

4. Fold the sheets in half, and trim about 2-3 mm from the edge.

5. Measure and cut a 2-fold cover from thick card paper. Each of the 3 sides should be 7.7 by 10.5 cm.

6. Place one set of pages (called a 'signature' in book-binding lingo), into the first fold of the cover. Mark 3 equidistant holes in the middle, about 2 cm apart.

7. Using a pointed tool, make 3 holes through the pages and cover.

8. Cut a piece of craft wire or copper wire roughly 20 cm long. Insert it into the holes to bind the book, as shown.

9. Repeat the process to bind a second booklet into the second fold of the cover.

10. This is a really fun part of the process! Use coloured paper, stickers or scrap to decorate the cover as you like.

11. Your flip-flop double-sided note book is ready! You can use it as a notebook, or write a few things you are grateful for each day.

12. If you like, you can attach a piece of string about 30 cm long, to the wire of the binding, and wrap it around your book.
