Jabaliya, northern Gaza Strip - 13 April 2025

2. Various of people and civil defense workers looking for victims under rubble
3. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Abdallah Dardouna, neighbor: ++SOUNDBITE STARTS ON SHOT2 AND IS PARTIALLY OVERLAID BY SHOT 4++
"My little brother was standing in the street, he is two and a half years old, a rock fell on him, on his head. From this pile of rubble women and children were pulled out. A bag full of pieces of meat, we don’t know whose body is this and whose body is that. There is no resistance, there is no Qassam (fighters), no Hamas, there is no one here. It's only civilians here. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs (a phrase used to express grief and reliance on God for justice)."
4. Various of people carrying wrapped body of killed woman out of rubble and moving body towards ambulance
STORYLINE:
An Israeli airstrike Sunday afternoon hit a house in the urban Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza, killing at least seven people, including two women, according to the Indonesian hospital, which received the bodies. A pregnant woman was rescued from the rubble.
The feet and hands of a young person were seen among the debris, as rescuers rushed to clear the piles of rubble and metal bars with their hands.
Abdallah Dardouna, who lives nearby, said rubble fell on the head of his two-and-a-half-year-old brother.
"From this pile of rubble women and children were pulled out," he said.
A wave of Israeli strikes across Gaza on Sunday hit a hospital, a municipal building, a home and a vehicle, killing at least 21 people, including children, as Israel vowed to expand its security presence in the small coastal strip.
The intensified attacks across Gaza on Sunday happened hours after Israel’s defense minister said that military activity would rapidly expand and that people would have to evacuate from “fighting zones.”
The war started after Hamas killed 1,200 people during its Oct. 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, mostly civilians, and took 250 people captive, many of whom were eventually freed in ceasefire deals.
More than 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza have so far been killed in Israel’s retaliatory offensive, according to the health ministry there, which does not differentiate between combatants and civilians in its count but says more than half of the dead are women and children.
