Typhoon Maysak Intensifies and New Invests Form in the Atlantic

Typhoon Maysak continues to intensify in the Philippine Sea, and is approaching the Japanese Ryukyu island chain. The storm is likely to pass between Miyakojima and Okinawa, possibly delivering typhoon conditions to one or both locations. The storm will deepen further in the East China Sea, likely peaking as a Category 4 before slamming into southeastern Korea as a still powerful Category 2 typhoon later this week.

In the Atlantic, four areas of interest could develop in the next few days, with two of them likely to develop imminently.

One of the areas is in the eastern Caribbean, and is likely to continue westwards or west-northwestwards towards Nicaragua, Honduras, or Belize and Mexico.
The other area is off the eastern United States, and is likely to become a tropical storm as it accelerates northeast, and should not cause adverse conditions on land.

Tropical Storm Iselle died off the Baja California Peninsula earlier today, and is not likely to regenerate.
