Laudate Deum - Apostolic Exhortation to all People of Good Will on the Climate Crisis

Pope Francis' Exhortation to motivate not only individuals, but also the political international community to take seriously man-made climate change. The first people who will and are suffering from climate change are the poor. It is not enough to simply reduce pollution, but we must take ourselves out of the technocratic paradigm that thinks technological progress will save us, and return to a more indigenous way of understanding our participative relationship with the environment. The modern worldview has caused us to view ourselves as aliens to the earth and therefore a kind of parasite; however, we are made of the earth, we view the environment from "within". We have to understanding this perspective and change our relationship with the environment as well as reduce consumption and emissions.
