How to Make Cold Process Liquid Soap

How to make cold process liquid soap. Recipe in description box!

In this video I make liquid soap with the cold process method. Remember to always be safe when you are working with lye. Gloves, protective eye wear and long sleeves are required.

RECIPE:

80% sunflower oil 400 grams
10% coconut oil 50 grams
10% castor oil 50 grams

114.6 g KOH at 85% purity (0% superfat)
190 g Distilled water

24 g sodium lactate (3%)
1 tsp sugar dissolved in lye water

I diluted 100 g soap paste in 167 g distilled water to make a 25% anhydrous soap.
I preserve the soap with 1% phenoxyethanol (2.67g)

Liquid soap is a water based product and prone to bacteria. Preserving liquid soap with a safe, broad spectrum preservative that is stable at a pH of at least 10 is advised.

I'm not sure if the pH 10.1 is too high. I will let the soap sit for a few weeks and see if the pH goes down. I might then neutralize the soap with a 20% citric acid solution.
