Making 3 Chromatic Minor Triads Sound Melodic

The tension was the easier part. Making it flow wasn’t.

For the last few months I’ve been exploring outside playing through minor triads moving by half-step.

Most recently, I started adding a third triad to the system.

What I’ve found is that the triads themselves create the tension, but the real challenge is connecting them in a way that still sounds melodic. For me, the key has been focusing on the half-step connections between the triads rather than the triads themselves.

Here I’m trying that approach over Alone Together using a backing track from @RealPlayTracks .

This is an extension of the 2-triad half-step approach I’ve been sharing recently. For anyone interested in studying the original concept in more detail, I’ve put together a PDF with exercises and examples through the link in my bio or at https://martinuherek.gumroad.com
