The coach, described as being of African origin, has been training local children there for many years, and in the video she can be heard repeating her demand about learning the language.

The video spread quickly on social media and triggered a lot of criticism. Many people reacted strongly online, saying her remarks were insensitive and inappropriate, especially coming from an elected representative. Critics said it was wrong to link someone’s right to work or stay in a community with how well they speak a local language.

After the backlash, Renu Chaudhary issued a public apology. She posted a video message saying she did not intend to hurt anyone and that her comments were meant to improve communication, not to threaten the coach. The BJP leadership in Delhi also took notice of the situation, summoned her, and said her way of speaking was not appropriate. They emphasised that sports and public work should be inclusive and not tied to language pressure.

The incident has sparked broader conversation about language expectations, cultural sensitivity, and how public officials should handle community issues without causing offence.
