Watery Eyes That Won't Stop? Your Drain Might Be Blocked

Ever wondered why some people need “bypass surgery” for watery eyes?

This operation is called a DCR (dacryocystorhinostomy) and is commonly performed when the tear drainage tube between the eye and nose becomes blocked — a condition called nasolacrimal duct obstruction.

In this short animation, consultant ophthalmologist Chris Matthews explains how a new drainage pathway is created so tears can bypass the blockage and drain properly again.
