Finishing the Raven Skulls - Coyote Skin Cloak

#blacksmith #blacksmithing #ravenskulls

In this video, I finish the raven skull cloak pins I started in the previous video. After forging two simple pins with a ring on the top, I drill a hole in the top of the skulls to receive this pin. Metal epoxy putty is then inserted into the end of the beaks to create a receiver for the point of the pin. The brass skulls are then treated with a nitric acid-based solution called Brass Black. After blackening, the patina is highlighted using steel wool, leaving dark in the crevices.
Now, the grand reveal on my "in progress" rental costume of leather armour and coyote skin cloak. It should be noted that this is not a historically accurate form of armour but rather a fantasy style typical of current film and videogame depictions of leather armour.
