How to Restore Armor - Restoring the Slayer Suit

In this video I give my Slayer suit a much needed overhaul. 18 years of rentals have taken it's toll on the suit and many of the straps were deteriorating to (and beyond) the breaking point. Although Slayer is fantasy armor... it's construction and means of assembly are pretty much the same as 15th century plate armor of Western Europe. This style of armor is very effective and durable, bit the leather straps require constant maintenance, and while the pieces were partially disassembled, I did some refurbishing of the steel.

After refinishing the steel using Stove Black, WD 40 and a Scotchbrite product, I was able to begin reassembling the suit. This suit represent several early explorations into armor that eventually were consolidated into this unique suit of armor.
