Why Heroic Leaders Get Courage Backwards

Heroic leaders tend to have a false sense of what courage is, and their teams pay for it.

Real courage is being your true self when the need to be significant pulls you somewhere else.

Hero leaders get this backwards.

Their need to be seen and relevant drowns out the voice asking what is actually good for the organization long-term.

Their teams love them because they want to handle everything, but the organization develops a key person problem in the process

Heroes know what they are doing.

They choose significance over the long-term health of the organization.

Which is not very heroic, ironically.
