Bartolomeu Dias - The Great Navigators Series

Bartolomeu Dias was one of the most courageous and influential navigators of the Age of Discovery. In 1488, he became the first European to sail around the southern tip of Africa, proving that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans were connected and opening the way for a new maritime route to the East.
His journey was marked by violent storms, uncertainty, and the vast unknown. What he first called the Cape of Storms would later be renamed the Cape of Good Hope, symbolizing the promise of new horizons and the expansion of global exploration.
Although Dias did not reach India himself, his achievement paved the way for future expeditions, including Vasco da Gama’s historic voyage. His courage, determination, and vision changed the course of world history and helped shape the era of global navigation.
This video explores his life, his expedition, and the legacy he left behind — a story of bravery, discovery, and the relentless human desire to go beyond the limits of the known world.
