STEP Forward: Introducing fusion to primary schools

Inspiration into engineering, technology, science and maths starts early, which is why UKAEA has partnered with the University of Sheffield and Bassetlaw District Council to develop STEP Forward, a brand new and exciting educational programme.

STEP Forward provides FREE resources for primary schools across the UK to download and deliver in their own classrooms, without needing specialist support from industry or academia.

STEP Forward has been extensively trialled at more than 20 primary schools in the Bassetlaw area of north Nottinghamshire – home to STEP Fusion, the UK’s prototype fusion power plant – and features sessions based around:

Exploration, encouraging curiosity and context
Skill Builder, increasing competencies and confidence
Tinker Time, increasing engagement
