How to Create a Global Map of Nautical Piracy

Here's a how-to for turning 40 years (and 8,000 incidents) of nautical piracy data into a global map. Data with heavily overlapping points can hide areas of high-frequency, so aggregation can be a good viz option, and also provides little cells within which you can create statistical summaries.
