How to set up camp safely | Overland Essentials

When choosing a place to set up camp for the night, there are many factors to consider.

In this episode of Overland Essentials, Tim Hampton and Matt Misicka give tips for staying safe while camping.

✔️ Do online research or contact the local land management agency for camping requirements, weather updates and animal activity.

✔️ Top off with gas before arriving to campsite.

✔️ Arrive before the sun goes down.

✔️ Camp off the trail or road.

✔️ If camping close to water, look all around to avoid being surprised by a flash flood.

✔️ Be aware of your surroundings (look up for dead tree limbs)!

✔️ Avoid game trails.
